Pike is a common fish in the most of the rivers, lakes and channels. Even it is not always easy to catch big ones, pike fishing is popular between sport anglers. Some of good spots are rivers Drava, Sava, Lika, Mrežnica, Korana or Lonja. Some lakes are also good spots, like lake Kruscica, or lake Rakitje near Zagreb. Not desirable it can be found in typical trout river Gacka. Fishing with silicone lures, voblers, or streamers are popular way of fishing, even some anglers use live baits.

Sea bass is one of the most popular fish in Adriatic sea. Can be catch on dead bait, or with artificial lures. Better from boat, somewhere  from the coast. Hot spots: river mouths, Karin sea, Plomin bay, narrows, harbors with fishing boats...

Good population of largemouth bass can be found in lake Trakoscan, in lakes of Podravina and Medimurje, and in Slavonija lakes Borovik and Petnja. Also lakes near Zagreb and Karlovac are good too.

We love brown trouts from Croatian rivers. The most popular river is Gacka, but Kupa is a "must come" river for fly fishing.

Carp is definitively the most popular fish in Croatia. Large number of anglers are dedicated only to this fish. They are using carp rods and gears, but I like to catch them on fly rod better. We landed 2 carps over 20 kg on fly rod, on lakes Rakitje near Zagreb. These lakes are potential for big carps, and we are waiting first carp over 30 kg to be caught in near future. Catch and release is required.
